Underrated

“There are people less qualified than you, doing things you want to do, because they believe in themselves and take action.” Do you believe in yourself? There is something about confidence and knowing you belong in a place that even overrides degrees, certifications, and experience.

A hinderance to that confidence is feeling underrated. Not feeling underrated by others but feeling underrated from within. Underrated is defined as underestimate the extent, value, or importance of (someone or something).

Do you know that someone is waiting on your book, your meals, your coaching program, your business, your music, and your ideas? But because you are undervaluing what you have to offer, you continue to sit on your gifts and talents.

I was listening to a Facebook Live one day and Pastor Shun Strickland was teaching about not valuing your gifts and dealing with money ick (reasons we believe we can’t charge more or have an soul issue that keeps us from not charging at all). Sometimes we get comfortable with the gifts and talents God has given us that we underrate what we have to offer. The thing that spoke to my heard the most in the video was when she said, “What’s common to me is valuable to others.”

I began to think about all that I have undervalued in my life because it was common to me but could have been valuable to others. The things that comes easy to me that I have made minute or insignificant can be used to help solve problems in the lives of others. It made me become aware of how much I undervalue and underrate myself and what I have to offer. When things become common, we treat it any way and it’s value decreases. But the truth is there is nothing common about what we have to offer, who we are, and what we create.

As believers, the Holy Spirit that dwells on the inside of us helps us to create, helps us to awaken to who God has called us to be, and teaches and guides us along the way. And that my friend is not common. Sometime inspiration comes from within, so we must stop downplaying the ideas that we have access to. Someone is looking for what we have to offer.

We are all limited editions. There is no one else exactly like you. No one is doing what you are doing exactly like you are doing it. There is uniqueness in your touch, your personality, and your niche. You are needed and what you have needs to be seen on the front line. Limited editions are not cheap. People pay more for limited edition items. Don’t be afraid to sharpen your skills and adjust your prices accordingly. Notice that not everyone can afford limited edition items so don’t become upset when someone chooses not to use what you have. Keep believing and don’t begin to underrate yourself.

There’s more within you than what you are allowing to be produced.

So as I just celebrated a birthday, I am dedicating this next year to stop underrating myself, to truly believe what I have to offer is valuable to others, and being firmed with prices.
